Do you love being a part of a warm and welcoming community? Kehillat Ma’arav (KM) is a synagogue located in Santa Monica, California. We are seeking a Programming Coordinator to join our dedicated staff in serving our lively congregation of approximately 200 member-families. The position is immediately available.

Under the supervision and guidance of the Executive Director, the Programming Coordinator will facilitate all logistics, administrative details and other responsibilities for internal programming, lifecycle events, and private facility rentals as well as clerical and administrative functions of the synagogue office. This position will also work closely with many other departments including religious school, facilities, finance, clergy, as well as lay leadership. Join our special synagogue family!

Required Skills & Experience

Superior organizational skills: filing, note taking, list making, follow-up
Exceptional communications skills both in writing and verbal interactions with staff, vendors, and volunteers.
The ability to set event timelines, paying close attention to when certain tasks must be completed.
Strong command of all MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher) and Google Suite: mail merge, spreadsheet creation / data gathering and analysis, Calendar, Drive, Forms
Other helpful software tools: JotForm, Sign Up Genius, Wufoo, Form Stack, Constant Contact, Rakefet, Adobe CC Suite, WordPress
Ability to understand the mechanics and the theory behind administrative processes (what we do and why we do it) and insight into improving those processes
Knowledge of and ability to explore new databases and software tools
The ability to effectively set priorities and manage expectations accordingly.
Working knowledge of how to set an event budget and follow it, as well as a solid understanding of job-costing and overhead associated with special events and facility rentals.
Excellent interpersonal skills and patience.
Top-notch problem-solving skills
Ability to work with minimal direct supervision and to initiate plans of action without prompting
Must have flexibility in scheduling; this position will require occasional nights and/or weekends depending upon the activity.
At least 2+ years of experience with special events, catering, or other programming.
Knowledge of Judaism and Jewish ritual is very helpful, but not explicitly required.
